Professional

Hello! I am a 2nd year PhD student in Human Computer Interaction at Cornell University. I work with Dr. Nicola Dell and Dr. Tapan Parikh. My research interests are broadly in Human Computer Interaction (HCI) and User Experience (UX), with a focus on understanding how day to day technologies are used for self-empowerment by various communities in emerging markets. In my previous research, I have worked with different work-communities, such as government school teachers and non-profits, to understand how restructured usage of WhatsApp, especially for teacher training in post-colonial settings, creates empowerment opportunities for teachers.

My research methods, generally, involve mixed-methods approach with an eventual objective to translate my research insights into scalable and impactful technological solutions. Going forward, I am interested in understanding the challenges, such as privacy implications, which makes these population vulnerable in employing their technological practices.

In my previous life, I had an excellent opportunity to work with Dr. John M. Carroll and Dr. Marcela Borge as a master’s student. Prior to that, I worked as a user experience designer at Standard & Poor’s.
